- What do you do for work?
- What do you do in your free time?
- Why do you want to adopt?
- What is your approach to parenting?
- What do you think your life will be like in 10 years?
The interview gives the social worker conducting your adoption home study a sense of who you are. Knowing your background, lifestyle, and parenting style can also help match you with birth mothers!
Adoption Home Study Checklist
For your adoption home study, in addition to having your documents ready for the social worker, you’ll also want to prepare your home for a safety inspection.
Some things the social worker will look for are:
- Gates are on stairs
- Electrical outlets are covered
- Windows are secured and locked
- Firearms are out of reach and locked up
