Ian & Sandra
Our journey to parenthood has led us to the beautiful path of adoption, where our hearts eagerly await a little one to cherish. With a home filled with love and laughter, we're excited to create a warm, supportive environment full of family trips, music/art, nature, and a love for learning, which is just a glimpse of the adventures we can't wait to share. Your child will be surrounded by encouragement and a world of opportunities.
How We Met
We have a very unique story about how we met. In high school, Ian had a fascination with amateur radio and obtained his license, which meant he had to learn Morse code. Several years later, on a social media platform, Sandra included in her profile her email address encoded in Morse code, catching Ian's attention. He was able to translate the code and email Sandra to introduce himself, sparking the beginning of our journey together.
A few weeks later, we had our first face-to-face meeting at the North Texas Scottish Festival. Surrounded by the lively atmosphere of bagpipes and kilts, we felt an instant connection, sharing stories and laughter. After that memorable encounter, our relationship blossomed. It wasn't long before we officially became a couple, marking the beginning of a new chapter in our lives together. Our love continued to grow stronger with each passing day, and three years later, exchanged vows and became husband and wife.
Our Leisure Time
We have a wide range of hobbies and interests that keep us busy. One of our favorite things to do is travel. Whether it's exploring new places around the world, going on a road trip across the country, or simply taking a weekend getaway nearby, we love to adventure and discover new things. While we're out and about, you might find us hiking, fishing, or just relaxing and enjoying nature.
Photography is another passion of ours. We not only love capturing the beauty of our travels but also entering our photos into competitions like the state fair and art shows. It's a creative outlet that allows us to express ourselves and share our experiences with others.
Music is also a big part of our lives. We enjoy both playing instruments and singing together. We even have a little recording studio in a shed in our backyard where we work on performances or simply let our creativity flow to create new music.
In addition to these hobbies, we're amateur radio enthusiasts. We have a setup at home that allows us to communicate with people locally and around the world. It's a fun way to connect with others and learn about different cultures and places.
We're excited to share all of these interests and activities with our future child, whether it's exploring new destinations, capturing memories through photography, making music together, or connecting with others through amateur radio. These are experiences we look forward to sharing and enjoying as a family.
What It Means to Become Parents
As parents-to-be, our primary goal is to create a safe, loving, and fun home for our future child or children. We're incredibly excited and eagerly anticipate raising them in such an environment. Alongside providing love and security, we're enthusiastic about sharing our interests, hobbies, and adventures, especially our passion for travel and exploration of the world.
Our house will be a space for our child to discover their own passions and interests. We believe in creating an environment of curiosity, learning, and encouragement, where they can explore their unique talents and pursue their dreams. We're committed to supporting them every step of the way as they grow and develop into independent individuals.
We hold firm to the belief that instilling these values of curiosity, determination, and self-discovery will equip our child with the tools they need to thrive in life. By nurturing their interests and guiding them towards their goals, we hope to empower them to navigate the world with confidence and resilience. Ultimately, our greatest joy will come from watching them flourish into happy, fulfilled individuals, ready to embrace all that life has to offer.

Our House and Neighborhood
We moved to our current house about 10 years ago so we could both be closer to our jobs when Ian started work as an aircraft mechanic. It is in a medium sized north Texas suburb, which is within bike riding distance of a large recreational lake, parks, and within walking distance of an elementary school. Our town also has lots of other amenities, from a large library with lots of children's activities to pools, baseball fields, soccer fields, and playgrounds.
Our cozy one-story, four-bedroom house has been the backdrop for countless memories. The spacious living area is the perfect place to play in, which seamlessly connects to the kitchen where we bake for friends, family, and, undoubtedly, future school bake sales. Beyond our patio door lies our outdoor oasis—a covered patio with a custom-built grill and pizza oven, built by Ian himself. Sandra loves tending her raised bed garden, complete with herbs, strawberries, and vegetables.
We have wonderful neighbors around us, forming a close-knit community. The alley behind our houses is where we gather, with lots of conversation between us. We also enjoy parties, BBQs and, one year, even a "Friendsgiving" dinner in the alley.
Our Extended Families
Family is at the core of who we are, and our extended family plays a significant role in our lives. We both come from close-knit families, and we cherish the time we spend together with them. Our family gatherings are always filled with love, laughter, and memories.
We are fortunate to have a close community of family and friends whom we consider family. Whether it's gathering for meals, celebrating special occasions, playing games, or simply enjoying each other's company, our extended family is always there for us.
Holidays and birthdays are especially meaningful for us, as we come together as a family to celebrate and create lasting memories. Christmas, in particular, is a multi-day affair filled with traditions such as volunteering in the community, baking, family breakfasts and dinners, decorating 4 full and 3 desktop sized trees (in just our house), attending Christmas Eve services as a family, and Santa Claus (for kids of all ages!).
Our extended family is incredibly supportive of our adoption journey. They are always there, offering encouragement, guidance, and unconditional love at every step of the way. Their support means the world to us, and we are grateful to have them by our side as we embark on this path to parenthood. We are blessed to have such a close and loving family, and we look forward to creating many more memories together in the years to come.
From Us to You
First and foremost, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to you for considering adoption for your baby. Your courage while making this decision is truly amazing, and we admire your bravery and strength in making it. It means the world to us that you're considering us to be a part of your child's life, and we are honored to have the opportunity to share our hearts with you.
We have been married for almost 14 years. From the moment we started planning our life together, having a family was our dream. We tried for years to have children, undergoing treatments like IVF and IUI, but unfortunately, it didn't work out for us. Despite the disappointment, we never lost hope, and we always kept adoption in our hearts. Adoption isn't just a way to build a family for us; it's a beautiful opportunity to grow and expand our horizons in ways we never imagined. We're ready and excited to welcome a child into our home, knowing that they will bring so much love and joy into our lives.
Our hearts eagerly await the arrival of a little one to cherish and love unconditionally. We long to provide a home filled with warmth, laughter, and endless opportunities for growth and exploration. One important aspect is our commitment to maintaining a connection with you. We are fully committed to sharing pictures, letters, and updates with you over the years, and we are open to one visit within the first five years of the baby's birth. We believe that this open communication is essential for the well-being of the child.
At our home, your child will be surrounded by love, support, and encouragement. We want to create a nurturing environment where they can thrive and become the best version of themselves. We're excited to share our interests and passions with them, like going on family trips, listening to music, taking photos, exploring science and aeronautics, and enjoying the outdoors. We think these experiences will not only make their lives richer but also help them develop a strong sense of curiosity and a love for learning. And not only do we want to share our interests with them, but we are excited to encourage and support them in pursuing their own interests and hobbies!
Our home is filled with love and fun, and we can't wait to welcome a child into our family. We are committed to providing them with a safe, stable, and loving environment where they can grow and thrive. Sandra cannot wait to make birthday cakes and teach how to make Christmas treats and Ian has been collecting his dad jokes for years to share!
Thank you for considering us as potential parents for your precious baby. We are filled with hope and excitement at the possibility of welcoming a child into our lives, and we are committed to providing them with a lifetime of love and support.
